Weight Loss Yogurt Smoothie

Is the ‘Smoothie Diet’ a good/healthy idea?

I’m thinking about embarking on the ‘Smoothie Diet’ to help me with my weight loss.

It’s essentially a fruitarian (only fruits/vegetables) plan, with 2/3 of the day’s meals being purely crushed fruit smoothies. Protein is included in the breakfast smoothie, which includes yogurt and protein powder.

The fruit smoothies are made primarily from: bananas, strawberries, mangoes, kiwis, oranges, pineapples and cranberries.

What I want to know is: is this safe/healthy? As far as I can gather, my carbohydrate/protein/vitamin/fibre/fat requirements will be met, (albeit in smaller than usual amounts, but it’s a diet, right?!) so I’m wondering if there is anything I’ve forgotten that could make this an unwise diet plan to follow for the few months leading up to the summer? (I’d like to start this week, and continue until at least June.)

no diet that requires one food group is all that good for you. if you want to do it for a couple of days for detox, that’s one thing, but over a long period of time, you need more nutrients. fruit is only part of a healthy diet. just because you’re on a diet doesn’t mean you need fewer nutrients. it means you need fewer calories. eat a well balanced diet with proper portions, drink plenty of water, and get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.
