I have nearly all the symptoms of type-1 Diabetes, but I’m gaining weight instead of losing it…any thoughts?

I’m a 22 year old female who has nearly all of the classic symptoms of type-1 Diabetes (fatigue, extreme thirst, frequent urination, etc.) I have always heard that those that suspect that they have type-1 Diabetes usually experience unintentional weight loss. However, I’m experiencing unintentional weight gain! I’ve gained around 10 pounds, which is strange. Although I’m already overweight (which I know puts me at risk), I’m a vegetarian and I eat and exercise moderately; it’s not like I’m constantly snacking or eating mostly unhealthy things. Any thoughts, yahoo community?

* Muscle wasting
* Frequent urination
* Laboratory tests reveal large amounts of sugar in the urine
