Need help with weight loss?

I have had weight problems all of my life, ranging from near anorexia to obesity. I am now 21 and just over the obesity line (by about 1 point on the BMI scale). I need help. I do mixed martial arts for two hours three times a week, and I work as a waitress which also keeps me busy. I’m also a student though, which keeps me rather sedentary. I eat fairly healthy, rarely drink soda, and am currently swearing off fried foods. I really only spend about $15 dollars on groceries a week, so it’s pretty bare-minimum.
But I’m still gaining weight. I’m not starving myself but I feel like I’m always hungry. And the problem is that I don’t have enough money to diet or to buy special foods or diet supplements. I feel completely taxed on money, time, and resources.

I just need to know if anyone else has been in my shoes. What did you do? Any help is appreciated.

Load up on fresh fruits and vegetables. Eating healthy and staying active are your best bet for losing weight. Don’t worry about supplements as most don’t work and the ones that do don’t work very well. In addition to your mixed martial arts, try walking or running a few days per week. Back to the food. Never underestimate the power of fruits and vegetables. When you eat salad, don’t smother it with dressing. I suggest getting the lite or fat free dressings. I fell in love with fat free Italian dressing. It’s loaded with flavor but not fat. Buy frozen vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower and have a couple of large servings of these steamed everyday. Don’t skip the protein but like you said, avoid fried foods. Chicken, turkey, fish, lean pork, lean beef and bison meat are great sources of protein. I even have a little tofu once in a while.
