Weight Loss Journeys Before And After
Does it take a while for weight loss to begin?
I’m on a “journey” to lose about 35lbs. I’ve been through weight loss before, but it was through unhealthy means.
For about a year after I stopped losing weight by unhealthy means, I didn’t know how to eat in a way that was good for me. I was eating McD’s, lots of sugar, etc. Now I am eating a lot less calories, whole grain things, nothing with too much fat, etc.
I’ve been doing this for about a week and a half and haven’t seem to lose anything yet. I’m used to losing a lb a day (I KNOW – Not healthy), but is this normal? I mean, it was a pretty dramatic change in diet.
A healthy weight-loss would be about 1-2lbs a week. That’s it. So its reasonable that you might not feel much different just yet.
Also, because of the yo-yo dieting you did before, it might take a few months for your body to sort itself out to where its functioning properly again.
You are doing the right thing to eat more healthily. Soon you will notice that you feel lighter, and have more energy. You will probably notice that you feel happier more often then before.
But if you want to give the weight-loss a bit of a kick-start. I would recommend trying to get in 30 minutes of exercise a day.
Also, in addition to weighing yourself, take your measurements. You will probably find that you loose more inches then pounds in the beginning. That’s because muscle is leaner but is heavier than fat. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn even when you are sleeping or watching TV. So its a win-win.
