Am I Being Too Vain? What Would You Do?

I recently tested positive for H. Pylori and am suppose to go on a two week treatment of triple therapy with the prevpac. The problem is that I have read in many articles that after you get rid of the h. pylori, you gain a lot weight for no reason at all. You don’t even have to eat a lot, and you still gain A LOT of weight because it messes with your hormones. I figure weight gain is a heavy price to pay- people not only think you’re a lazy or a pig, but it comes along with other diseases as well. I have always been at a normal weight and don’t want to deal with the struggle of weight loss. The h. pylori has caused a lot of problems and the doctor said if I have an ulcer (which I know I do), it could become cancerous. I don’t know what to do. I feel like I’m dam*ed if I do, and dam*ed if I don’t. What would you do?
