Weight Loss Hair Loss Cause
Does methetrexate and/or prednizone cause weight gain and/or hair loss?
Been taking both meds for approx. 8 – 9 mths. Don’t notice a physical difference, except for gaining weight and losing hair. What good does this medicine do? This is for RA
Prednisone definitely can cause weight gain and hair loss, also hair growth, and moon face. It also can relocate fat from the arms and legs to the belly, causing distended abdomin (not only weight gain, but then nothing fits right); thins the skin, causes easy bruising with red spots, allows veins to show through; causes calcium loss from the bones, promotes cateracts, osteo-arthritis, and a whole list of typical, less likely, and rare side effects. Try doing a search, you will probably want to get off it as soon as you can, it must be tapered. I don’t know much about Methetrexate, except that my doctor was reluctant to put me on it. I was on Prednisone for lung inflammation. Am now off six months, still haven’t gotten any weight off. Maybe there’s something else you can do for your RA.
