What health effects do laxatives have?

There is a girl in school who was taking around 5 laxatives a day and I am sure she is still taking an amount. She has has drastic weight loss gone from chubby to unnaturally skinny but still eats the same amount of crisps and chocolate as before. She tells people she did it with green tea, eating healthily and exercise. I know she didn’t ask a fact! She has been taking caffeine tablets to give her energy too.

Mostly it becomes very difficult & next to impossible to have a normal bowel movement. It interferes with the absorption of food nutrients and medications. I bet your friend does not realise how dehydrated she probably is and how she is robbing her body of electrolytes. An electrolyte imbalance can cause abnormal heart rhythms, weakness, confusion and seizures. The caffeine pills compound all of this. She is not getting energy from food so the only way to get energy is overuse of caffeine. Her sleep pattern must be very disrupted.

I hate to be this way since it sounds mean but if that girl hasn’t changed her lifestyle, like really and truly exercising and watching what she eats, she is going to gain MORE weight back when she returns to normal habits.
