How do I add more calories into my diet and still eat healthy?
I’m trying to lose weight, and I’ve been using Livestrong.com to track the foods I eat and the exercise I get. Based on my height and weight, they say I need to eat around 1600 calories a day. But after I cut out all the crap I used to eat — burgers, fries, soda, etc. — my daily calorie intake went down to a little under 1200 a day, much smaller than I intended. I am NOT starving myself — I eat three meals a day and try to get in healthy snacks in between. It just doesn’t add up to a lot of calories anymore because it’s mainly fruits, vegetables, and occasionally, meat and pork. I’m just scared that if I don’t increase the number of calories my weight loss will plateau — I heard that if you don’t get at least 1200 calories your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto your fat.
So what can I eat to up my calorie intake by about 200-300 calories? It needs to be something healthy, with very little sugar or fat.
Eat fruits! Theyre sweet, taste good, and have very little sugar or fat.
