Post baby weight loss?!?

I am a mother of a 1 year old and I still haven’t dropped all the baby weight. I really don’t have time to get out to the gym so I was looking into getting some of the weight loss dvd’s. The one I was really focusing on is the Taebo Bootcamp series. Have any of you had any luck with that one and if not can you suggest some things that did help you drop the post-baby pounds? I’ve been eating more healthy and walking everyday- and taking Trimspa (apparently it doesn’t work) but I need some good cardio! Help!

Tae Bo is WONDERFUL!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, but I found that I needed more to keep me on track. I started using sparkpeople.com to help with my diet, b/c that is extremely important. The Tae Bo Club website has a nutritionist on staff and some geat recipes. There is also a nurition chat board that is extremely helpful. The proper balance of protein, carbs and good fats is essential to weight loss. You should be eating about 5 to 6 times daily, healthful foods: whole grains, fruits, veggies, cottage cheese, milk, yogurt, lean proteins…..Keeping a food journal is also helpful so that a)you can see exactly what you are eating and where your calories are going and b)you will be accountable for what you eat if you have to admit it on paper. Having to admit it to another human being was more helpful for me.
Spark people also has exercises you can do at home., One thing you need to concentrate on is your core strength. After having ababy the core tends to get weak. The stronger it becomes the more you will lift and snap like a rubber band. Without a strong core you are linited as to what you can do safely.
Walking with your child in one of those running strollers (w/ 3 wheels) is a great idea,too. THat way, everyone gets out. But, keep in mind that you need a variety of exercises in you arsenal to lose wieght. You should be strength training at least 3 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes and cardio for at least 30 minutes 4 to 5 times a week. YOu also need to be sure you are working for the 30 minutes at an elevated heart rate. The Spark people website has all this info.
Stability balls, dumbbells, strenght training bands are all toools you can use at home.
I didn’t want to go to the gym, either, but I knew that I needed the help of a trainer to stay on track both with my exercise and diet. Your child is old enough to stay at child care at the gym, especially if you are in the YMCA or a major health club.
Quit the trim spa and eat better!!
