Weight Loss Drops Hcg Side Effects

HCG and weight loss ?

I see multiple ads for HCG drops to lose weight and a friend of mine, who is male, is taking the HCG drops and says it’s making him lose weight. My question: have any females tried HCG and does that affect the menstral cycle at all ? For men and women: any side effects ?
I don’t understand how a pregancy hormone can make people lose weight without side effects. Especially men. Can someone explain that?
