weight loss for an already healthy eater?
hello everyone. i would really like to get into shape for summer. I am a few pounds overweight, probably around 5. the problem is that i am already a generally healthy person. i drink a lot of water everyday, probably about 5 dasanis, dont eat much junk food, when i do its usually weight watchers ice cream or something, only drink diet pop, and am pretty good with portion control. i also try to get on the treadmill a few times a week. however, i am still not losing any weight, and this is not a new change, this has been my lifestyle for about a year. so my question is, how can i get into shape if i am already doing healthy things?
for those of you who say this is my body’s natural weight, its not. a few years ago i was very in shape, and then kind of stopped trying and have since gained about 5 pounds.

If you feel your diet is ok the answer to getting back in shape is probably exercise or generally being more physically active. Try getting on the treadmill a few more times a week for 30 minutes a session. This will help to burn fat. Introduce some resistance exercise, like weight training. Whilst this won’t directly burn fat it will help to build muscle. Muscle is responsible for most of the calories you burn off each day, so more muscle equals a higher metabolic rate and more calories burned at rest.
Also, be aware that muscle is heavier than fat so if you build some lean tissue and lose fat it may not show up on the scales – use the mirror instead. With only 5lbs to lose you should see a real difference fairly quickly. Best of luck!
