does hypnosis for weight loss work?

any success stories? any suggestions on which hypnosis Cd i should invest in? the one I’ve been eying up is by Erick Brown.

Firstly, yes, hypnosis can help almost anyone lose weight. And before I continue, I shall address Samanta’s point:

No. 99.9% of people can be hypnotised. All hypnosis is, is focus of attention resulting in a change in brain wave state (from Beta to Alpha/Theta, if you are interested) and this change increases subconscious receptiveness.
Less people can be hypnotised by -Stage Hypnotists- because this requires the subject to play a more active part (i.e. acting like a chicken), whereas with Hypnotherapy the subject (normally) has to do nothing but sit and close their eyes.

That’s what most people think, but this also is wrong. You are always in control when hypnotised. If a hypnotist put you under and told you to take off your clothes, unless you would normally do this for any Tom, Dick or Harry in the street, chances are, you would refuse, snap out of hypnosis yourself and slap the hypnotist.

Now, the question in hand. Who is Erick Brown? I’ve never heard of him… Not to say he can’t -do it-, he’s just not top of the food chain (just like me, and I sure can do it).

If you’re going for a pre-recorded CD then go for the pros. Look for “I can make you thin” by Paul McKenna. He’s the most recognised hypnotist in the world, and if his CD/book combo doesn’t work, then try the real thing.

I would personally agree, as suggested above, that going to visit a professional hypnotherapist (look for accreditation) is your best option. It will be more expensive than a cd, but it will be much, much more effective. The hypnotist can get to the root of your problem and create a session specifically tailored to help YOU rather than the CD to help everyone on the planet (some of whom eat through depression, some who have glandular disorders, some who really f–king love chocolate chip cookies – see what I mean here?)

I used to create Hypnosis CDs specifically designed for people (pretty much the same as having a session, but easier for long-distance) and my best success with that was helping a clinically obese gentleman lose 70lbs in 4 months in time for his retirement party.
So, CD’s work as well as face to face hypnosis – it’s not the source that counts, but the content itself.
