Weight Loss After Hysterectomy Partial

Can anyone tell me if this weight loss after A hysterectomy is normal?

I had a partial hysterectomy in February. I had some minor complications that kept me in the hospital for 12 days and upon returning home, i discovered a 12 pound weight loss. Ok, so I figured, stress, pain and horrible hospital food were to blame. Since then i have lost another 10 pounds and i can honestly say, i dont watch my every eating habit! I have always been chubby and this is a huge WOW to everyone around me. Every website i look at says the complete opposite of this. I guess i just wonder if its a temporary eurphoric moment and 8 months from now i’ll be packing the chubbiness back on or did i stumble onto the ultimate diet?!!!

Welcome to the club. I had mine 6 weeks ago. The weight loss for me started months ago, and at 5’3″ and normally weighing 130 (which I was always pleased with, a size 6) I am now smaller than a size 2 and weight only 109. My appetite is picking up now but still no weight gain. It’s difficult, of course, to know what’s causing your weight loss, but I can attest to the fact that stress (even after surgery went well) may be a large factor. for instance, I’m 39 years old and normally have a decent appetite. Right now, I have to actually remind myself to eat, and I often feel lazy (as I’m still on disability) so I know exactly how many calories I have per day because much of my food is quick and easy stuff like tv dinners (I’m single and was pretty weak for awhile). Yesterday, it was 10 p.m. when I realized I’d only had coffee, water, cigarettes and 680 calories. To MAINTAIN weight, we need at least 1200 calories, so duh!

Let me mention one other thing, just that has been very useful to me. If you use a pda, check out a program called FemDays (http://linkesoft.com/femdays/). I’ve been using it for years now and it helped me to log my period issues, and now whatever spotting I occasionally have. My doctors are always impressed that I can give them exact dates and notes.
