Why do online body fat percentage calculators keep telling me I’m obese when I’m not?

I just had a baby less than four months ago and am now looking to lose the ten pounds or so I gained while pregnant. I thought the best way to keep track of my weight loss would be to chart my body measurements and body fat percentages as time went on. However, when I put in all my information, the calculators insist I have 32-33% body fat, am obese and need to lose about forty five pounds (I tried at least ten different ones). Honestly, I was looking to lose 10-20 max. If I lost forty five I would weigh about 90 pounds. I know I’m kinda short (5’3) but I would still consider myself at a relatively healthy weight – as do my doctors.
So why do these calculators keep telling me I’m obese?? Does anyone have any advice for me?

Well I wouldn’t trust some online calculator for starters. The only reliable methods are DEXA scan, hydrosatic weighing or calliper tests using multiple sites.

But even if you did happen to have 33% body fat at 135lb, that does not mean you need to lose 45lb! Women should have in the region of 21%-31% body fat. With a lean body mass of 90lb, this means your ideal weight would be approx 115lb-130lb.
