Stalled Weight Loss On Atkins Diet

Can you exercise on Atkins diet?

I have been exercising a lot while also doing the Atkins diet. I am not losing weight and posted a question on another board about the possible hinderance. One reply said that exercising, or certain exercises that involve weights or resistance activity, might stall weight loss results because this will cause my developing muscles to retain water.

Is that true?

Where can I get information about what activity is best while doing Atkins?

I just naturally assumed that the diet and exercise would go hand in hand!

I’m not interested in other diets, or Atkins debunking. I am doing this diet based on advice from my doctor due to specific medical condition that Atkins counters. I just need advice specifically about Atkins. Thanks all!
I am not just trying to lose weight in general. I am trying to lose fat weight.

1) Not only can you, Atkins said in his book “If you are not exercising, you are not doing Atkins”.

2) While exercise may hinder your SCALE loss, due to water retention and/or due the the fact that you are building muscle which is heavier than fat, you are still burning fat, and probably you are shrinking even if it is not showing on the scale. People who are very fit can look smaller and trimmer at higher “weights” than people who are out of shape and flabby.

Try measuring yourself, of see if your tight clothes are fitting better (or your regular clothes are getting a bit loose).

I’ve gone through a couple of periods when I didn’t lose a single pound for a few months, but people were commenting on how much weight I was losing, simply because I was replacing (light and bulky) fat with (heavy and trim) muscle.
