Help! Rapid weight loss? Could I be taking too many Kelp pills?

I just started taking kelp tablets to get rid of hypothyroid symptoms. I lost 7 pounds in a week, and I cant. I’ve been taking tablets for 2 weeks now. I’m worried. Could I be turning hyperthyroid? I dont want to get Graves Disease! Is it the kelp?

Why not try stopping the kelp tablets for a week and see what happens. Most commercial tablets have small amounts of iodine and it is doubtful that such a small amount could make you have a hyperthyroid. There are places in Japan where women consume 10x the amount of iodine than in a typical western diet/supplement.
