infant weight loss after bronchiolitis/pneumonia?
my son is 5 1/2 months and as of last week was relatively heavy at 25.7lb (30 in). he developed bronchiolitis, and now slight pneumonia, which amoxicillin/ventolin was prescribed. hes eating less food, drinking less milk, and is getting noticeably weaker/skinnier, especially in his legs which previously very large and alot of rolls.
my question is, will the body naturally gain weight back to what it was supposed to be after sickness, at a quick rate, or will it take a while? or will he be at this new ‘slimmer’ state?
im very worried, we’re just not used to him eating this less, not being as ‘big’, or having this few soiled diapers. hes usually very healthy….
I’m raising my 9 month old grandson, and when he was 3 months old he developed pneumonia. He lost some weight because he also had problems eating, but he regained it over time and is chubby and thriving.
Also, one of my brothers was quite ill when he was about 5 months. He was the heavier of the twins and lost quite a bit of weight, but regained it all and to this day is the husky one of the twins
