I was wondering which program/plan people think is the best or worst they’ve been on? I’m starting a new section on my dieting site about different dieting programmes and I would like some personal views on programs you’ve tried.

2 years ago i was 5’4″ and weighed in at 220 pounds. can you say fat***! i was huge, my husband is 6’4″ and was 200 pounds, i was ashamed of myself.

so i decided i was going to do something about it. i tried the whole adkins thing and lost 30#, i was so excited, but as soon as you vary from that plan the weight is back, and with me it came back with a vengence.
i had to try something else. so i started watching my carbs. i still ate them, but in smaller portions. i bought wheat noodles and bread, no bleached or enriched flours. i ate more often, like 7 times a day, stopped drinking pop (but i am a no sugar energy drink fiend) and just paid attention to what was going into my mouth. if i wanted a candy bar i got one, ate it slow and made sure i didnt over do it on sugars the rest of the day.

it worked for me. i lost 80 pounds. with little or no exercise. i just dont have the time for that. i am a mother of 5, work full time and have other responsibilities. i barely have time to sleep and shower in the same day.

its been a long slow journey, but thats what i wanted. i knew i would have a better chance of keeping it off it i lost it slowly. so today i am 5’4″ and weigh in at 140 pounds. i feel much better and have more energy. if i gain a few pounds over the holidays, oh well, i will work on that later. i just cant stress about a few pounds here and there. it happens and you just keep at it to get rid of it.

by the medical standards i should still lose another 10 pounds, but i am comfortable where i am. if i lose it-great, if not-oh well. i still feel good about myself.
