Do protein supplements/shakes eventually lead to a loss in ability for your body to make it’s own protein?
lately, i have been trying to gain some weight, as i am 16, 5’6″, and only 105 lbs. I have been working out, and have been suggested to buy a big thing of protein powder to make some protein drinks for my self, but i have another friend who have heard that they can cause your body to lose it’s ability to build its own natural protein, so i was just wondering if that was true.
(im trying to gain weight for high school track and field, and also just for everyday situations to not be light weighted).
No it shouldnt affect ur bodies ability to produce proteins, you ingest protein everyday, and it does not affect you, true? Eating protein provides you with the building blocks to produce more protein in ur body once ur muscles have been damage through weight lifting or working out. However, if your eating too much protein, more protein then ur body needs to rebuild muscle, it will turn to fat. Also you should be careful with amount of protein you consume because it can affect ur kidneys in a negative way, as protein will cause a build of the toxin ammonia which then has to be converted to urine, eating to much protien can cause ur body to ineffectively do this creating uric acid, the white solid substance birds poop out, which results in gout. This does not mean u should not consume protein , it just means watch ur amounts for what u need…So, i guess im saying go ahead drink up, but be careful, and if you notice any adverse affect stop and or consult a doctor
